Crucial Differences Between Movement Supporters by Charli J (LJ)
[Brendon/Ryan - PG - 7500 words]
For a newbie like me, this fic couldn't have been more perfect. It shows off the boys and their relationships perfectly. It's
complex, funny, sweet. I couldn't stop reading.
Economies of Scale by disarm_d
[Brendon/Spencer - NC-17 - 9200 words]
I think I quoted half the fic to my best friend so she would know why I couldn't stop laughing. Brendon is such an adorably
annoying little tick in this fic it's hilarious. And Spencer has no idea what hit him.
Four Kisses That Meant Nothing, And The One That Meant Something After All by Adellyna
[Jon/Spencer - NC-17 - 2500]
I could go with the obvious, the very hot Mile High scene, but it's rather the small observations along the way that make this
a great fic for me. Many people can do "hot", but memorable writing is something else entirely. Jon still has whiskey pooled
in the ridges of his molars when he finds Spencer on the other side of the fire; Spencer is gangly, soft belly, blue eyes, hair
darker in the shadows. He's too old to be coltish, but still threatening to grow any second, like maybe Jon just has to lean in
to kiss him now, but he might have to tilt his face up by the time he coaxes Spencer into opening his mouth.
Give me more: I-II-III by wearemany
[Brendon/Ryan - NC-17 - 25.000 words]
Beautifully complex portrait of Brendon on the cusp of stepping out into the world. Dramatic without resorting to melodramatic twists,
emotional without becoming a tearjerker. The whole fic felt very real. Not just Brendon, but the whole band. Memorable.

Jon is jealous. The not-quite-fighting scene made my chest hurt. But they make up; it's all good. Spencer is standing there
in his boxers and plain white t-shirt, arms crossed over his chest. He glares fiercely at Jon, and says, "You're a fucking asshole."
Jon licks his lips slowly, leans against the doorway. "Yes. I am."

[Brendon/Ryan - unrated - 1800 words] HP/Bandom mash-up
My feedback for this went something like this: OMG... incoherant burbling... !!! *hands* This is fic is utter genius, so so
funny and witty and quirky and... wee. The support cast is brilliant. Gabe and Vicky and Gerard and Travis and... *draws hearts
around fic* Butterflies aren't seasonal, you know, he writes onto as tiny a corner of parchment as he can manage. And I wouldn't
kiss you if you had TEN mistletoes. He briefly wonders whether that's too harsh, then remembers it's Brendon he's talking to, and
underlines the sentence twice. He sends it to the back of the room as a snow goose.
It doesn't take a minute for the answer to come. Ryan looks down in surprise at the barely-there tugging on his pant leg, and
finds a little polar bear climbing up his calf. It bats a tiny, paper paw at his hand when he tries to help it along, so Ryan
waits to unfold it until it's progressed past his knee.

[Harry/Draco - unrated - 1200 words] "It’s odd that after five years of living in total isolation, you’ve only reached the level of say, peculiar." This is Malfoy,

you were supposed to attack me."
Harry flops down beside Malfoy on the carpet. "Sorry to disappoint you."

Lay Down Your Cross by Circe
[Draco, gen - PG-13 - 740 words]
On Thursdays, Draco Malfoy walks the grounds of the Manor. He checks the wards for weakness and records each flaw with meticulous
detail in his notebook. He tours his mother's rose garden, inspecting each bloom for gnome damage. He sketches new, impossible
designs for the hedge maze. He lingers at the Gates and looks through the silver filagree toward the village, doing his best to
ignore the stares of the attendant Aurors. Sometimes he lays a hand on the Gates and twists his fingers about the bevelled bars.
But not always.

Once Known Rain by Cate (LJ)
[Draco/Bill - PG-13 - 4200 words]
The café was dark, the chairs on the pavement protected by voluminous awnings. Draco moved with assurance to the table he preferred,
safe within shadow, close enough to the street to feel the desert’s breath on his face when the wind blew spices into the gutter.
"Kahwaziyada," he ordered when the waiter approached, then slumped in his chair, perspiration slick at the small of his back,
his blood singing with agitation. Breathe, an older wizard had told him once, a beggar of sorts who’d once known Yorkshire.
Don’t resist. The magic will welcome you if you’ll simply stop fighting.

"You see, Harry, it’s like this."
Take A Sad Song (And Make It Better) by Anonymous
[Harry/Draco - NC-17 - 45.425 words]
H/D Worldcup fics are still being posted, but I doubt I'll find another I'll love like this one. This story is such a treat; rich
prose, superb characterisation, convincing plot, believable emotional conflicts. This story is long and slowly paced, but I did
not skip a single sentence. The story starts with the breakdown of Harry and Ginny's marriage after Harry's affairs with men. The
emotional arc of all characters, both children and adults, is handled maturely and compassionately. Draco gets woven into the tale
very naturally, nothing about the romance seems forced. Really, I could go on about this story for pages. It's that fantastic.
Topology by dorrie6
[Harry/Draco (implied) - PG-13 - 2500 words]
Seventh year, he returned to Hogwarts with a purpose. He gave up mapping out the other Gryffindors and concentrated solely on Potter.
It was easier than the previous year, though he wasn't sure why. It was as if Potter had stopped moving around so much--as if he'd
lost momentum. One hundred and twenty steps from the library door to Potter's favorite hideout in the restricted section. Twenty-two
steps from there to a book he couldn't stop reading and re-reading. Three hundred and ninety-nine steps to the hidden alcove not far
from Gryffindor tower. Best of all, forty-six steps (seventeen of those up a ladder) from the hallway to the roof over the owlry,
where Potter waited every night for his snowy white owl to bring him some unknown message.

[Harry/Draco - NC-17]
Malfoy’s voice was soft and intense, as if he were watching something mesmerizing. Harry kept his eyes closed a moment longer, however,
because he could feel Malfoy moving closer—he wondered if the magic was making him more sensitive to heat as well as to light.
It was strange and a little enervating, this sensation of feeling Malfoy’s presence near him—magnified somehow, to the point
where even with his eyes shut he could tell that the other boy was leaning into him, studying him closely. He could almost see
the expression on his face—sharp, serious, and maybe even a little predatory. Harry reflected that under the circumstances he
ought to have felt more like a martyr in a den of lions. But really he just felt incredibly intense and aware and alert, and—

Tanlines & Dogtags by Icarus (LJ)
[John/Lorne - NC-17 - 19.800 words]
I passed over this story when it was first posted because of the pairing. What a huge mistake. Straight Lorne is taking nude
pictures of gay (bi?) Sheppard. The hows and whys of this are faszinating, their dynamic is utterly faszinating. Once I started
I couldn't stop reading. Don't let the pairing stop you if you have any love for strong characterisation. This story delivers.
Tomorrow, We Will Be Better by Siriaeve (LJ)

Ship or friendship: can be read as both. A heart-warming fic full of atmosphere and tender care. It perfectly illustrates why
I have a soft spot for these two.

Self-indulgent smut with added dirty talk and submissive!John. My favourite.
When Life Gives You Turtles.... by Lierdumoa
[John/Rodney - NC-17 - 7700 words]
Sunday tag. John isn't dealing very well with the aftermath. Actually, he's not dealing at all, and that makes him a bit of
an asshole and a lot bitchy. The story made me howl with laughter.
Athosian Woman (the silver chromatic remix) by Siegeofangels
[Teyla, gen - PG - 2000 words]
A remix of zvi's A Woman of Athos. Teyla is still a leader, even if (because) her calling lies not with her people. This is fantastic. The Twelve Eternals of Athos.

The Greater and the Lesser and Those of the Becoming by Brighid
[Wraith - PG-13 - 1200 words]
I was stunned stupid the first time I read this. A Lesser Arul, Ma’Hkt, comes forward with two Least and bows, silently, before
taking the h’man beast. She looks at the second one, same stock as the first, only smaller, sweeter, still fat in the cheeks. She
crooks her finger at it, and it comes. "Do you know why you are here?” she asks it, touching the soft hair delicately. "Do you
understand the honour you’ve been given?"
The young beast looks at her with dark, curious eyes, confused and only half-fearful. Ma’Ur lets her hand drop down to the narrow chest,
watches the eyes widen, the mouth twist in silent despair as her claws slip beneath the skin, as tiny hooks seek and catch the
ebb and flow of its tiny life.
Hands Away by Mandy's Bitch
[John/Rodney - NC-17 - 2900 words]
Ow, this hurts. Poor, fucked up Rodney. Poor John. Rodney doesn’t kiss John. John kisses Rodney sometimes, mouth against
Rodney’s shoulder, neck, ear. When he reaches Rodney’s face, Rodney turns away. John doesn’t seem to mind. He rests his hand
against Rodney’s jaw, goes back to kissing his neck.
Harsh Continent by 30toseoul
[John, gen - PG-13 - 3300 words] The flying here is like nothing he's done before, though.
Distance screws up his perceptions at first, badly. An island can be twelve miles away and look almost close enough to touch.
Mountains that seem like foothills are really thirty miles off, ten thousand feet high.
When the conditions are right, illusions stretch and flip everything on the horizon into funky shimmering shapes above the sea
ice, and he'll never stop thinking that's cool.
Homunculus by Siriaeve
[John/Rodney, Elizabeth/Ronon - PG-13 - 17.000 words]
The team goes to a planet to find an energy source, but instead of a ZPM they bring back something else. Beautifully done possession fic. There's nothing I don't like about this story; from the team dynamic to the development of the plot to the wonderfully realised sex scene. And the end is just right, too.
How Much For the Little Girl? by jenn
[John/Rodney - R - 3400]
Rodney trades in John for coffee. Accidentally, swear to god. John is not amused. Of course, payback's a bitch. This is so so
funny.
I'm With You by Tx-tart
[John/Rodney - PG-13 - 1900 words]
Rodney leaves for Earth, John is sad; this makes me very happy. Sweet, smile-inducing little fic.
In the City of Seven Walls by Auburn
[John/Rodney - NC-17 - 171,606 words] violence, non-con
One of my favourite stories in any fandom: atmospheric, captivating OCs, intense, heart-rendering, harsh, beautiful, uplifting. Epic.
The team gets captured and sold as slaves. This story follows the footsteps of John and Rodney in their new roles, in their new world, trying to
survive. I don't want to reveal too much, but this is not a slave!kink fic. Auburn creates a whole new culture for this story, and
it's just as faszinating as watching John's and Rodney's journey.
Nothing to Fear (The Guardian Remix) by LJ Mckay
[Atlantis, John, gen - 1000 words]
A remix of Fluid Circulation by Rokeon. This made me tear up, in a good way.
And then there is the other man, the one that doesn’t try to understand her but just asks her so nicely if she’ll please
help him defend herself and his people along with her. The one who doesn’t realize all he is capable of and never asks her
to do more than necessary, even when she would gladly do more. She recognized him because of his gene but she responds to him
because of his heart.
One Day Stand by _inbetween_
[Rodney/Samantha - NC-17 - 1900 words]
I really liked this one, with Sam's exasperated grudging affection and Rodney too overwhelmed and dopily happy to be an ass, yet.
"It's still day, isn't it? I could stay ..." He looks down at her hopefully.
She stands up so they are face to face, cards her fingers through his short hair, still untidy from their intercourse, then grips
it and shakes his head lightly. "Rodney, Rodney, Rodney."
"What? What, what, what!"
Past or Present Tense by Wojelah
[Team, gen - PG - 864 words] spoilers for Adrift
Wonderful Teyla voice. Insightful, quiet and tender.
The Pledge and the Turn (The Paramnesia Remix) by Domenika Marzione
[Lorne, McKay, gen - 3000 words]
A remix of jenn's What I Look for on the Sides of Mountains.
Great insight into Lorne's character. Lorne understands the politics behind SGC mission reports, McKay doesn't. The first rule
of SG-style AARs was that there were no SG-style AARs. "Aliens or no aliens, you write up a report just like you did back in Big Air
Force," they were all told when they started. "You write down everything since that's how you and your readers are going to learn
from your experiences." The second rule of SG-style AARs was to ignore what you were told when you started.
Resolution by Resonant,
Clarity by Speranza, and
Composition by Shalott
[John/Rodney - NC-17]
The reason I am in this fandom. He stared up at Rodney, who was staring at him, who was staring at Rodney---and for a moment
he felt totally fucking dwarfed by the infinite recursiveness of it all. Slowly, deliberately, he slid his hand down along the
thin line of hair that arrowed to his cock, and watched as the guy on the sofa did the same thing--and gee, okay, that was kind
of hot. He fisted his still-erect cock and pointed it toward where he'd triangulated the camera, and it was like the guy on the
sofa was offering his dick to the viewer, which was--wow, okay, yeah, really working for him. Feeling smug, he pulled the camera
back to check Rodney's reaction and saw that Rodney wasn't even watching--Rodney had gone over the edge and was breathing hard,
eyes closed, looking totally blissed out. For a moment, he was outraged, because--hey, he'd just been doing something really sexy
there and Rodney hadn't seen him do it--but he found himself staring up, fascinated, at the look on Rodney's face.
Salt and Water by rebecca
[John/Rodney - R - 760 words]
This is poetry, plain and simple. Rodney lives on a floating city in the middle of an ocean in a galaxy different from the one in which he was born and there
is a race of aliens trying to kill them all and the most unreal thing in his life is John. He acknowledges the absurdity of it,
admits that this may be nothing more than the strange imaginations of a not particularly fanciful man, and will die before he
admits any of this to another living soul.
Sistinas by Jennghis Kahn
[John, Rodney, gen - Mature - 2000 words]
Zombies! This is creepy, but quietly so. And a lot painful. Rodney reached for him, a little quicker than John had anticipated.
John wrenched away from the ragged fingertips, worn away from their single-minded determination to get to him as he slept. He
almost spilled his lunch but saved it at the last moment. He skipped a few steps up the hall and then glanced back. Rodney staggered
around on unsteady feet, and his sallow look gave him an almost long-suffering expression. John smiled and then had to fight
the rising peal of laughter in his chest. He wasn't sure, but he thought that if he let it out... he might not be able to stop.
Something More by jenn
[John/Rodney - NC-17 - 13.300 words]
John left Atlantis. Rodney will be damned if he doesn't manage to drag him back, kicking and screaming if he must. Jenn gives great John.
A stretch of golden beach leers at him from atop the dunes, the sun bright overhead, and a million miles of the Pacific dancing
as far as the eye can see. Rodney swallows hard, shoving the sunglasses back on before beginning the long trek down, sand shifting
unpredictably with every step; his body is too used to still, solid floors and flat, inoffensive rugs. Stumbling onto the relatively
flat line of the shore, he spots the house from the shoreline, invisible from the road, pretty and sharp and blending into the
landscape, set up from the ground on granite and solid concrete, carefully shielded from sight of the road. If you didn't know
where to stop, Rodney thought, you'd never find it, and that was John to a T.
Speech by Kass
[John/Rodney - R - 2025 words]
PWP. Rodney has to stay silent. Very hot.
Sproing by aesc
[John/Rodney - PG] sequel: Sproing II
This made me smile so hard. He's been doing this--the press-and-SPROING routine with John's head--since not even halfway through
his first cup of rus wine. Teyla had told him it was stronger than Earth wine, John had told him, hell, even Ronon had told him it
was powerful stuff, but Rodney had sniffed, muttered something about "battery acid in Siberia" and downed half the cup in one go.
And now, like most designated drivers, John is paying for his sobriety.
The Uttermost Secrets of Time and Space by Zinnith
[Rodney, Death, gen - PG - 1073 words] SGA/Terry Pratchett
Pitch perfect Rodney voice. I could hear him say every single word. Rodney turns around again, to the laptop with the taunting
program. He reaches out a hand to press a key, but his finger sinks right through the keyboard. He turns back to Death. "Can’t I just
finish this first? I... I won’t give you any trouble, just... let me finish it, okay? I need to save them."
Vitruvian Man and
Corners of the Mind by Ladycat
[John/Rodney - NC-17] bondage, dirty talk
Same scene, two versions. Fic 1 is from John's POV and pretty much shorted out my higher brain functions for a moment. Fic 2
is Rodney's POV and infinitely more complex: a character study disguised as PWP.

Corridors of Power by Blythe
[Harry/Draco; NC-17; AU]
Witty and clever. I don't pretend to understand all the British quirks in this, but it is still intensely funny. Post-war Harry and Draco as Members of Parliament should not work, but it does, and brilliantly so.
Firebrand by Dee
[Harry, Ginny, Draco, gen; Adult; AU; 3600 words]
Bleak and gritty. The very first HP fic I read. I totally blame Dee for this fandom of mine.
Invisible To See by FayJay
[Harry/Draco, Draco/Justin; NC-17; 97.500 words]
Possibly my favourite version of Draco, to date. The prologue alone broke me into tiny pieces. Plotty, angsty, funny, very hot, with characters I loved. Yes, even Harry.
Jealousy by SilentAuror
[Harry/Draco; NC-17; 3300 words]
Intense emotions and insecurities leading to snarling, angry sex. Hot.
The Secret Language of Cats by Thistlerose
[Remus, gen; 5500 words]
The writing is wonderfully detailed, and every single character is treated with such a loving touch. The story is heartbreakingly sad and uplifting at once. Remus is so tiny and brave and wonderful. This made me cry so hard.
Surface by Dee
[Harry/Draco; Adult; 4000 words]
So, so good. Unflinching, unmelodramatic, complex. Dee does angst like a pro.
Underwater Light by Maya
[Harry/Draco; R]
Favourite HP fic, hands down. I love the plot, the characterisation, everything. The UST almost killed me.
Wandering, Gets You Down by HiddenDaze
[Remus/Sirius; PG-13; 5600 words]
One of the first HP fics I read. Made me fall in love with Remus a little.
[Stargate Atlantis]
Absurdity Theory by Julad
[Rodney/Radek; NC-17; 10.400 words]
Rodney and Radek insult "Honoured Knowledge-Givers", get cursed to sound like ducks, endevour to find out what the hell is going
on, wackiness ensues, oh, and sex. So much fun. Amazing characterisation. Did I mention how much fun this is? If you don't normally
read this pairing? Ignore the urge to scroll past. Trust me. Money back and all.
Advantage by Resonant
[John/Rodney; NC-17; 15.000 words]

No, really.
Animal Husbandry by Casspeach
[John/Rodney; R; AU; 27.500 words]
A lovely, rich AU wherein Rodney is a vet and John is dreaming of owning his own stud farm. Great cameo by Lorne as John's best
friend.
An Aesthetic Solitary Thing by Eliade
[John/Rodney; NC-17; 6.300 words] warning: wings, tentacles
How on earth did Eliade make this work? It's funny, hot, and unexpectedly tender. "At least we're not giant flatworms. I
know it may not sound like it, but our parent species is actually quite aesthetically pleasing."
A Beautiful Lifetime Event by Shalott
[John/Rodney; NC-17; 29.500 words]
This story I go back to when I need comfort-fic. Rodney and John become parents via ancient device. It's about family, friendship
and love. Beautiful, beautiful story.
Beyond Onireomancy: A Rationalist's Guide to Understanding Your Dreams: I, II by The Spike
[John/Rodney; 5500 words]
Rodney and the aftermath of Grace Under Pressure. This story will hurt your heart at first, but then heal it again. Lovely
Rodney&Radek friendship.
Bullets By the Door by Nifra Idril
[John, gen; 2200 words]
John in Afghanistan. Lyrical, poignant, real. The ground beneath them's more red than gold, deep dark crags cut into it. Goats and people scatter as they pass over, and John watches the horizon line, the shining black of the copters in the sky with him, the olive drab of the Humvees beneath them, motors whirring, thumping, beating in time with the steady regular thudding of John's heart. Afghanistan is fucking beautiful.
Cartography by Touch by Pru
[John/Rodney; 12.800 words] sequel: History of Maps
Amazing, amazing John characterisation. Therapy sessions with Heightmeyer, and John talks while saying nothing at all. I love
the pacing: the slow, gradual reveal of what's going on.

Come and Join the Dance by Mirabile Dictu
[Rodney/Teyla; NC-17; 12.974 words]
Rodney discovers quietness. Beautiful language, slow pacing, warm tone overall. I may've teared up a little at some point.
The Empty Bell by Brighid
[John/Rodney; NC-17; 1500 words]
Ow. Ow. Ow. Haunting. As beautiful as it is painful. John fucks Rodney for the first time in the middle of a rainstorm. A lashing wind rattles the shutters of the empty house
they've bedded down in, and all night long there is the jangle of wind chimes, perhaps thousands of them. They coil tightly
together on someone else's bed, a tangle of limbs and kisses and small, savage touches. Their bodies bruise each other, and it
is too raw, too painful and far too much, but it is all they have.
Everything by The Grrrl
[John/Rodney; NC-17; 2000 words]
Bondage. Oh yeah, that works. Incredibly hot.
A Farm In Iowa by Cate
[John/Rodney; NC-17; AU; 115.000 words]
John inherits a farm in Iowa, Rodney's car gives up on him, and then there is Finn. And Burp. And hijinks. There are no words
for how much I adore this universe full of warmth, simple pleasures and love, so much love. These are my ultimate feel-good stories,
re-read constantly.
Finding the Fine Print by Giddy
[John/Rodney; 9000 words]
Marriage and mind melt by ancient device. I love love love this story. The dialogue, oh god. So much fun. Rodney digs through the pack for his digital camera and laptop, setting it up.
"You see," he says, pointing. "Two, blah, journey, blah, test, blahblahblah, ends in light, blah. Two, blah, etcetera. No mind
sharing."
John stares at him. "You didn't mention the blahblahblah before," he says, and McKay waves his hands without looking in John's
direction. "Rodney. You didn't mention the blahblahblah."
The First Pressing by Lacey McBain

Another comfort-fic. This one always leaves me smiling and suffused in warmth.
Fourteen Years by Hth
[John/Ronon, John/Rodney; R; 12.500 words]
14 years of Ronon's life: 7 as a runner, 7 on Atlantis. I don't really read Ronon fic, but this one I love. HtH gives brilliant
Ronon.

Sweet, funny wing!porn. "You're surprisingly mean for an overgrown butterfly."
Intersections by Kaneko
[John/Rodney; NC-17; 26.700 words]
The contrast of John's and Rodney's lifes until they meet in Antarctica pre-Atlantis. Joss'ed by canon, but I couldn't care less.
I never quite know what to say about this story, except that it is wonderful: a little sad, a little funny, with a sprinkle of
the absurd. Kinda like life, I guess. It feels infinitely longer than it really is.
Learn Something New by Speranza
[John/Rodney; 5000 words]
Oh, happy sigh. Rodney swallowed hard; he didn't know if Sheppard was making or ruining his reputation right now, but one
thing was for sure: he was about forty seconds away from being called "snookums" in front of half the Nobel consideration
committee. "Right, yes, well, it is late," Rodney said, trying to make it sound like a business decision. He quickly turned
to shake the hands of the assembled company. "It's been a pleasure, gentlemen." Sheppard fluttered his eyelashes and waved his
fingers again: toodles.

[John, Rodney, gen; G; 1500 words]
Ow. Sometimes accidents with Ancient tech can't be easily undone.
No One Comes Close by Icantfollow
[John/Rodney; R; 5700 words]
Sheppard is really well done in this. Painful and tender. John doesn't register surprise the way most people do; in his line of work (make that former line of work) he can't afford to be caught off guard. He may have lost the job, but none of the instincts.
To even the playing field, John leaves Rodney standing out in the rain for several minutes as he leans against the door frame and tries to figure out how to manage the situation. Eventually he turns and walks inside without gesturing for Rodney to follow. Rodney, who's never needed an invitation, closes the door behind him.

Candy Perfume Boys by Brenda&Val
Slash. It's one of the most hilarious things I have ever read. I laughed tears. Don't try to eat or drink while reading it, you'll only make a mess. The plot is on crack and I can't even begin to describe the characters. Chiaroscuro by Val

Slash. I like how real especially Orlando seems in this. Diptych by Zarah
Slash. The style of this story is very unique, almost like music. You know, like in classical pieces, the different instruments have their own theme, but the truly magic thing is when they wind around each other, spark off each other to create something together. Eating Out by Nancy
Slash. Cross-dressing fic doesn't come any hotter. fucked by buffet
Slash. It's not easy to fine a perfect balance when writing angst, buffet has managed with this. illing by Hetre Z
Slash. Wonderfully experimental. I love the last line. Kinderreim by Becca Ming
Slash. Sparse prose and invocative. Imperfect characters, men who don't know how to say what they want to say. Just ouch. It'll hurt your heart. Leaving It by Dee
Slash. Characters with edges and insecurities, real people. Nothing told but everything shown, and then Dee leaves it to the reader to decide what to make of it. I very much appreciate that. Rover and Dom by Lobelia
Slash. This is kinda cute if only you skip the end. Oh my, you will never look at stuffed animals the same way. Shiver by Azrhiaz
Slash. How can something this creepy be sexy at the same time? A very sensual story with lovely imagery. The last line'll make you shudder. Wrong To Love You by Jenn Abiding
Slash. If you 'get' the story, it won't leave you alone again. There's something about it that speaks to my heart. The series is high on the smut and even higher on the emotions. Every word is carefully chosen; every scene, every word has a meaning. I've read the stories more than twenty times by now and I still find details I've missed. It's one of my all-time favourite universes.
[Pirates of the Carribean]
A Sea Change by Ladybee
Gen. Interesting idea and amazing execution. The author has a wonderful way with words: poetic and light. Bull in a China Shop by gileonnen
Slash. There are no words beside hysteric laughter. Absolutely brilliant. First Warning by Rave
Slash. This story has managed what the film couldn't, make me seek out Pirates fic. Will's nervous and a bit uptight, and Jack's annoying the crap out of the poor boy. The banter between the two is absolutely delightful. Hurricane Jack by shrift
Slash. Both Will and Jack are spot-on; revealing little bits of them not seen in the film that make them richer characters. And it's hot, too.
[Roswell]
The Gambler by Livia
Slash. The story that made a pairing. This is what should've happened in Las Vegas. Know These Things by Debbie
Slash. The only songfic that works for me. This story made me see a certain scene in a new light. Agni Pariksha by Mala
Solo(?). This story has stayed with me long after I'd left the fandom. I think it's the amazingly vivid imagery.
[the O.C.]
Summer by Elizabeth
Het. Slash. Very convincing Summer voice. Theories of Momentary Perfection by Serialkarma
Slash. The contrast of character/speaking pattern/body language is really well done here. I love how there's so much more to Ryan. A relaxed, perfect little story.
[miscellaneous]
An Evening with Narcissus by Grayswandir [Picture of Dorian Gray]
Slash. The character dynamic is wonderfully done. And dear Dorian is delightfully cruel. Beast by Belinda [Ned Kelly]
Slash. You know, I haven't even seen the film yet. But the sheer bloke-ishness of this fic makes me want to squeal in delight which, I'm aware, is a really inappropriate reaction. Heat by Gabby Hope [Black Hawk Down - RPS]
Slash. It's all about the atmosphere Gabby creates here. The moist heat of Marocco and the heat of desire. Guh. Leda, Mary and the Rest by stellamaru [Joan of Arcadia]
Het. This is interesting, I couldn't figure out what's exactly going on until the last moment. I liked the glimpses into Grace personality.
[WIP]
The Hunters by untitled06 [Lotrips]
Slash. Vampire AU that reads like original fiction. Untitled06 writes like she's taking photos, searching for the perfect lighting, the right angle; this makes her stories incredibly three-dimensional and vivid.
Engastrimyth by Merripestin
Slash. The first sentence captivated me. I held my breath reading this because it hurt so much. I have a soft spot for Sam!fics, and this one's lovely.
Feasting/Just Dessert by Quiseyes
Slash. Like a fresh breeze. Amazingly vivid, with lovely characters. A playful story with lots of humour. A story I reread constantly.
How To Save Your Marriage
by durendal
Slash. Het. What's a king to do if his queen refuses to produce heirs? Absolutely hilarious. I've gurgled myself through this one. Deadpan crack!fick.
Marble Skin by Penelope_Z
Slash. Possibly my favorite A/L story in the fandom. Shilling angst. Vivid language. I've read it ages ago and it still stays with me.
Phantom Pain by Victoria Bitter
Slash. Everybody and Gollum recced this. For a reason. After all this time it still makes me want to cry. Devasting... just devastating.
The Orc's Tongue by Lobelia
Slash. Orc!fic. A very interesting read. Somehow it didn't squick me in the least, even though Lobelia didn't spare the reader harsh details.
[Lotrips]
A Strange Constellation by Becca Ming
Understated writing, beautiful imagery; the words just flow. Interesting, layered characters with little quirks. There's something tender/calm about it.
Accessesory
by Calico
Now this is twisted. I can't quite decide why to rec it. It's blistering hot, but ice cold at the same time. Let's try this: even if 'this' Orlando is the last man on the planet, I wouldn't touch him.
Fall by Sheanie
Creepy, haunting, nightmare inducing wing!fic. Plumbing by Dee
I adore Viggo in this. You can almost hear the characters speaking. It starts out as crack!fic (author's words, not mine) and before you realize it you're in the middle of an amazing story. Mexico by eternal_bloom
This is a self-contained story inside a RPG. Vampire AU. I couldn't not rec this. Hauntingly beautiful language; it flows like music.
Wherever The Road May Lead by Sai
This is how I like angst: understated, with a sharp edge.
[Roswell]
Your Little Voice by Elizabeth
Het. More of a character piece than a ship!fic. A look inside Michaels mind. It's like a therapy session.
Redrawing The Lines by Matthew Haldemann-Time
Slash. Hilarious. Makes you wonder how the author got the idea. Wonderful voice of Kyle. It makes me like Max. (damn!)
The Evil Within by Nicole Anell
Het. My favorite Roswell story. Dark, angsty, devastating. Unconventional writing style. AU.
[various]
In Principio by Thamiris [bible slash]
Slash. Stunned silence. I have no words.
Dolphin's
Cry by Aelora [Orlando Bloom RPF]
Het. It has its sappy, cliched moments. This story's been haunting me for a while because Orlando's voice convinced me so totally. An OFC story I actually adore.
[WIP]
Ai! Aniron Legolas by Dale Edmonds [Lotrips]
Angst, so much delicate angst. Great characterisation. You'll cry in frustration when you come to the last paragraph. No update planned.
From One To Another by Cordelia Wallace [Black Hawk Down - RPS]
One of her characters had me seething. I wanted to smack the second. The third left me feeling worried. However the reaction will be, you'll react to this story. First person POV rarely convinces me:
I buy every word in this story. Author's working on new chapters.
Twilight by Cas [Lotrips]
First person POV and stream-of-conciousness! Terribly angsty. The imagery completely sucked me in with its quirky, unusual details. Author is missing in action.
Taming Legolas by Cheyenne Dancer [Lord of the Rings]
Slash. Het. Hot! You won't recognize the characters but, trust me, you won't care much. Have fun with your cold shower afterwards! Hasn't been updated in ages.
Void
by wax jism[Faculty]
Het. Slash. First there was this story then people decided to make a movie around it. It's dark, cutting, harsh; bloody brilliant writing. I heard wax's working on it again.
Broken by Icebun
Efficiency of words to the most possible impact. So beautiful it made me shiver.
Ingenue by Betty Plotnick
A character piece. You come out knowing more about Elijah. At least, you think you do.
Fun&Games by Brenda
Brenda dares you to follow her into a world of dark desires. It's harsh and violent, but it's love. (heed the warnings on her site.) Two by Zarah
There are stories that make you squee for the characterisation, stories that make you gasp because of the sexual tension. This one is neither and both combined. I wanna write something like this when I grow up.
Waiting by Cinzia
A delicately layered story with believable characters.
